CONNECT V2 is Live: Let’s Dive Into the Updates

The launch of CONNECT V2 marks a new phase of development for Rethinkable. Firstly, let’s clarify what CONNECT is — simply put it covers the umbrella of recruitment tools we have launched in Discord. Why did we coin a name? That’s a good question, we have multiple products in the pipeline and want each to be distinguished as their own entity within our ecosystem.

CONNECT’s V2 update has improved the scalability, mitigated any possible security concerns, and added multiple features requested by our partners, their communities, and ours. Let’s dive into the updates. 👇

Job board updates:

The style of our job board has been updated to best present a job listing. This includes a restructure of the listing components as well as creating a visual link between the embed colour and category the job is posted in.

Two new fields have also been added, the job type. As well a compensation type e.g. salary, mint percentage, on completion, and more. This will help applicants better understand the role and how they will be compensated.

Notifications:

Applicants can now receive opt-in ping notifications for all jobs or for a specific category of jobs that we support. Naturally, this will also provide the user with a role within the Discord server that they subscribed to notifications in.

The default notification roles can be fully customised!

Notifications is an optional feature for our partners and can be setup by granting the Rethinkable Bot manage role permissions and typing the slash command /enable-notifications. You can customise the notification role names to your liking.

Hired command:

Hirers can now use ‘/hired’ in their job listing channel to remove their listing from all job boards. This feature is very important as it means all job boards only show positions that are actively being hired for, leading to a more efficient job search.

We have also implement subsequent functionality to share a ‘proof-of-concept’ by sharing all hires in a hires channel in the Rethinkable Discord. This shows applicants that our tool really does work and we believe will lead to a natural increase in the quality of applications.

Security:

We understand that security is of upmost concern for all of our partners that have installed the Rethinkable bot. V1 used webhooks to operate and send messages. V2 now uses messages to operate and send messages. The new and safer method for us to send messages required a lot of work but was worth it for the peace of mind it brings to our partners.

We encourage all partners that have setup a jobs board before the V2 update to go ahead and remove the webhooks in these channels. The bot will automatically switch to sending messages so long as you grant the bot permissions to “send messages” and “read message history” in that specific channel.

Final additions:

  • Auto-deletion of hiring channels after < 1 hour
  • Revamp of all the text the bot outputs
  • Database restructure for scalability
  • Code clean up to allow for further updates easily

Summary

CONNECT will remain a free tool and we will continue to maintain it’s use case and build out further functionality. We’re already working on a V3 update which will be ready very soon. As well as this, we are developing RETHINK which is our web application and will be launched when it is absolutely perfect — we will share sneak peaks in November.
